Testing
-------------------------------
1 Test electrolyte density of batteries. Recharge batteries if necessary.
2 Clamp amperemeter between positive terminal of battery and "connection 30" cable of starter.
3 Clamp voltmeter to connection 30 of starter and to vehicle ground.
4 Clamp second voltmeter to battery positive and to battery negative.
5 Engage maximum gear, apply parking brake and depress foot brake.
6 Briefly operate starter (not more than 5 seconds) and read off short-circuit currents 900 to 1050 A on ammeter.
At the same time the battery voltage must not drop below 13.5 volts.
The voltage at conection 30 of starter must be not more than 1 volt lower than the battery voltage.
7 Disconnect testers and re-create connections.
