N18 Automatic heater control and operating module (HEAT)

Function

The control and operating module (N18) is the centerpiece of the automatic heater (HEAT). It permits performance, of adjustments required by the driver, such as:

 Temperature by using the temperature selection wheels (1)

 Air quantity by using the blower switch (2)

 Air distribution by using the air distribution switch (3)

Furthermore the control module integrated into the control and operation module (N18) takes over the comparison of specified / actual temperature values and adjustment of the preselected passenger compartment temperature.

To protect the control and operation module (N18) the outputs are designed protected against short circuits. If a short circuit occurs the relevant output is switched off for more than 30 s. Thereafter the output remains switched off until the short circuit is repaired.

The control and operation module (N18) uses neither a fault memory nor a diagnosis system.
