The rear screen of the rear entertainment system is used for TV reception. A DVD player is also installed in the rear entertainment system. TV reception is activated via the control panel of the TV tuner (A2/42). The system can also be controlled from all rear seats by infrared remote control (IR). The TV tuner (A2/42) is accommodated in the rear entertainment system on the headliner behind the front seats.
The audio signals are preamplified and can be received via wired headphones and wireless infrared headphones. In combination with the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3), the audio signals may also be output over the vehicle speakers. The required tone settings (e.g. bass, treble) can then be made on the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In combination with the TV tuner (A2/42), DVDs played in the DVD player can be displayed on the color liquid crystal display (LCD) of the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3).
Searching/storing stations
In TV mode, the stations can be found and stored using the following functions:
Automatic station search
Station search with station list
Tuning into station by selecting channel
Station selection via direct channel input
Station selection from the station memory
It is possible to store up to 10 stations.

AV mode
Using the AV jacks of the rear entertainment system, an external device (e.g. games console) can also be connected to the rear entertainment system.
"Muting" function
When muting is selected, a Mute symbol appears at the top right of the color LCD of the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3). To allow the "Mute" status to be displayed, the "Mute" status must be transmitted to the TV tuner (A2/42) by transmitting a newly generated command.
The "mute: function of the audio sources is maintained if it was activated before switching off.
If the transmitter key has been turned from position 2 (circuit 15 ON) to position 1 (circuit 15 OFF), after turning the transmitter key back to position 2 (circuit 15 ON) only system settings (e.g. bass, treble) are saved. The required entertainment medium will have to be restarted.
