The telephone transmitter/receiver (A35/13) allows portable CTELs (A34/6) from different manufacturers (e.g. Siemens, Motorola, Nokia) to be operated in the vehicle. It is only necessary to install the portable CTEL bracket (A34/7) required for the respective portable CTEL (A34/6) on the corresponding contact plate.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Telephone operation
The telephone system can be operated as follows:
On the radio (Sound 20) (A2)
Using the multifunction steering wheel, with code (JK3) High-end instrument cluster standard with speedometer in km, in combination with the multifunction display of the instrument cluster (A1)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Information can be displayed via the
Portable CTEL (A34/6) screen
Multifunction display of instrument cluster (A1)
Screen on the radio (Sound 20) (A2)
The volume for telephone mode can be adjusted separately.
Following the request from the radio (Sound 20) (A2), the mobile phone signals are transmitted and received via the telephone transmitter/receiver (A35/13) and the telephone and GPS roof antenna (A2/49). The telephone is illustrated by a symbol, if it is operational, on the display of the radio (Sound 20) (A2). Similarly, the reception field strength of the portable CTEL (A34/6) is displayed after it is plugged into the portable CTEL bracket (A34/7). All control signals and useful signals (e.g. sound signals with hands-free system activated) are transmitted via the media-oriented system transport (MOST).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For communication with MOST subscribers the portable CTEL (A34/6) requires an interface, the telephone transmitter/receiver (A35/13).
The battery of the portable CTEL (A34/6) is charged through the telephone transmitter/receiver (A35/13). The battery is charged automatically as soon as the telephone transmitter/receiver (A35/13) is active, regardless of whether the portable CTEL (A34/6) is switched on or off. The radio (Sound 20) (A2) has the following telephone functions:
Automatic disabling of telephone card when the personal identification number is entered incorrectly 3 times.
Direct dialing of the telephone number via the numerical keypad, display of the name of the person called (if the number entered is known)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Speed-dialing of the first 10 memory locations by pressing one key only or dialing all other memory locations by entering the 3-digit memory location number
Display of caller's number (if number transmitted)
Display of name, if telephone number is known
Creating, editing and sending SMS
Select from memory list using
- memory location numbers
- Names (alphabetic)
- List of last 10 numbers dialed
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hands-free mode
During a phone call it must be possible for the user to hold the conversation using the hands-free system. Either the hands-free system microphone (B25), except code (LD0) Overhead control panel with reading lamp for driver and front passenger, or the hands-free system microphone (B25/1), with code (LD0) Overhead control panel with reading lamp for driver and front passenger, are available for this.
From there, the microphone signals are forwarded directly to the telephone transmitter/receiver (A35/13) and output via the vehicle speakers. The hands-free mode can be switched on and off using a button on the operating unit of the radio (Sound 20) (A2).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
During a hands-free telephone call the audio source is automatically muted. The telephone can be operated using the portable CTEL (A34/6), the multifunction steering wheel, with code (JK3) High-end instrument cluster standard with speedometer in km, or on the radio (Sound 20) (A2).
Hands-free calls via the vehicle's telephone system is not possible once the portable CTEL (A34/6) has been removed from the portable CTEL bracket (A34/7).
Data safety, SMS memory
If the battery voltage drops below 9.5 V, the characters that are present in the memory of the radio (Sound 20) (A2) are retained. However, it is possible for up to 4 characters to be lost. When switched off in the usual manner, no characters are lost.
