MODEL 219.3 with CODE (525) MB Audio 50 APS radio

The location of the vehicle, as well as the direction and distance to the destination (after entering the destination) are determined with the aid of the navigation system. This system calculates the data required to reach the destination (navigation).

The navigation system can be activated by pressing the "NAV" button on the radio control panel and navigation unit (A2/56). The radio control panel and navigation unit (A2/56) features an integrated navigation processor with a CD drive for digital data. Entry of the destination can be accomplished with menu guidance using the radio control panel and navigation unit (A2/56) and is processed by the navigation processor.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The user can enter the destination in the radio control panel and navigation unit (A2/56) in the following ways:

Address input

Destination memory

Destination with map

Special destinations (e.g. train station, airport)

Travel guide

Last destinations

Predictive text input

While entering a destination the letters which are still missing are completed from an existing list of words. The predictive text input feature refers to the entry of the destination and street during navigation.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The "Special Destinations" menu is supplemented by the "Bypassing other Locations" and "National Destinations" submenus. The "National Destinations" menu is subdivided into an additional submenu.

Dynamic supplementation

The dynamic supplementation is realized when the destination is input manually. While entering a destination the letters which are still missing are completed from an existing list of words. The supplemented characters have a black background. The user can delete the characters one at a time (character by character).

Position finding

The navigation processor in the radio control panel and navigation unit (A2/56) continually calculates the position of the vehicle using the following procedure:

Basic position finding (dead reckoning)

Map-supported map matching

Position finding using the global positioning system (GPS)

The navigation processor calculates the most likely position of the vehicle by constantly comparing the location results of these 3 methods.

Route calculation

The route is calculated in the navigation processor after destination input by the driver or automatically after a deviation from the proposed route.

With the dynamic navigation system, the route calculation is influenced automatically by incorporating traffic information.

The calculated route is stored in the navigation processor.

Route guidance

Navigation starts once the navigation processor has carried out the route calculation The navigation is supplemented by the voice output from the vehicle speakers.
