MODEL 950.0 /1 /2 /3, 952.0 /1 /2 /3, 953.1 /3, 954.0 /1 /2 with CODE (ET6) Auto-pilot system (APS)
The term "Continuous location finding" means continuous calculation of the current position of the vehicle by the APS navigation processor (A60). Continuous location finding is always active when the ignition is switched on.
The combination of three different types of location finding allows precise determination of the vehicle location.
We differentiate between:
Basic location finding (dead reckoning)
Global positioning system (GPS) location finding
Map-supported location finding (map matching)
W82.61-1003-11
Basic location finding (dead reckoning) using compass direction (gyrosensor) and distance traveled (speed information).
W82.61-1005-11
Location finding via global positioning system (GPS) satellite.
W82.61-1004-01
Map-supported location finding (map matching)
During the time that the required software is loaded into the system after switching on the ignition, only basic location finding is available (can take up to 20 minutes depending on satellite constellation and weather).
After the software is loaded, basic location finding (dead reckoning), map-supported location finding (map matching) and global positioning system (GPS) location finding operate parallel with one another. After switching off the ignition, all important location parameters are stored.
