Basic position finding
Global positioning system (GPS) - satellite position finding
Map-based position finding
Continuous position finding is understood to refer to calculation of the vehicle's position at any given time. This function is active when "terminal 15R ON" and is carried out by the navigation processor, which is integrated in the radio and navigation unit (SOUND 50 APS) (A2/56). During the switch-on phase (software is loaded), only the basic position finding is available.
With "circuit 15R OFF", all important positioning parameters are stored for the duration of the run-on time (approx. 30 min).
Constant location finding uses 3 methods which supplement each other mutually and thus guarantee very accurate and reliable location finding. These include:
Basic position finding (dead reckoning)
Map-based position finding
GPS position finding
