MODEL 639.601 /603 /605 /701 /703 /705 /711 /713 /811 /813 /815 with CODE (EN2) Auto pilot system with TMC interface

The radio and navigation unit (A2/56) has an integral CD-drive, which is suitable both for playing audio CDs and for reading the navigation CDs. Audio CDs can be played via the integral CD-drive or by the CD player with changer (A2/6) (with code (EP5) CD changer). The audio data are pre-amplified by the integral amplifier, before they are output over the vehicle speakers.

A special navigation CD must be inserted for navigation.

The CD player integrated into the radio and navigation unit (A2/56) provides the following audio functions:

"Random" function
All tracks on a CD are played randomly.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fast forward/reverse (music search)
The music played during fast forwarding/reverse is audible. Certain parts of a title can therefore be specifically played or skipped.

"Scan" function
Each track on a CD is played for 8 s. After the whole CD has been scanned, the "Scan" function is automatically terminated.

"Repeat" function
The track currently being played is repeated.

Display function
The number and elapsed playing time of the current track, as well as the total playing time and the number of tracks on the CD are displayed.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD title allocation, function

Each CD includes a permanently stored table of contents (TOC record). The radio and navigation unit (A2/56) unambiguously recognizes the particular CD on the basis of this record, and is able to automatically name it after the one-time user allocation of the title (even if the CD is subsequently inserted into another CD magazine).

The permanently stored table of contents (TOC record) additionally contains information regarding the number of tracks on a CD and the CD's total playing time. CD playback is automatically interrupted by the following functions (pause function):

Traffic announcements and public warning messages from the Radio Data System (RDS)

Incoming telephone calls

CD playback continues at the point at which the interruption occurred. No part of the track is skipped during the interruption.

The CD playback volume is only reduced during navigation system voice output.
