1 Activated charcoal canister

Location

The activated charcoal canister is located at the left on the firewall behind the engine.

Task

Temporarily storing fuel vapors

Ventilation and purging of fuel tank

Design

The activated charcoal canister consists of a plastic housing filled with activated charcoal granulates.

The activated charcoal canister is divided into various chambers by partitions to achieve an optimal flow of the activated charcoal granulates.

Function

Fuel vapors from the fuel tank are bound to the activated carbon. When purging is activated, they are drawn in again by the engine and combusted.

The activated charcoal is completely regenerated in the ideal case.

The pressurization and depressurization of the fuel tank is performed via the activated charcoal canister.
