MODEL 970, 974 with CODE (BA2) Permanent magnet retarder

Permanent magnet retarder solenoid valve, component description

W43.40-1082-11

Location

3 Actuator cylinder

Y159 PMR solenoid valve

The PMR solenoid valve (Y159) is located on the left at the stator of the permanent magnet retarder.

Task

The PMR solenoid valve (Y159) is supplied with power (circuit 15), according to the current requirement, by the parameterizable special module (PSM) control unit (A22) via the all-wheel drive off-road gear/Allison neutral/forced neutral/PMR ABS intervention relay (relay holder A31) (K10-A25).

When the PMR solenoid value is energized, it releases the compressed air supply to the actuator cylinder (3). The actuator cylinder (3) then turns the yoke with the permanent magnets at the stator of the permanent magnet retarder.
