GF25.50-W-1002TK | Turbine wheel component description | 17.3.10 |
MODEL 930, 932, 933, 934 with CODE (GK8) Turbo clutch
W25.50-1011-76
Location
1 Impeller
2 Turbine wheel
3 Turbine wheel brake
4 Brake roller freewheel
5 Transmission input shaft
Task
When driving off, the rotating impeller (1) deflects the oil flow onto the blades of the turbine wheel (2) thereby incorporating it into its rotary motion. The turbine wheel (2) is connected by way of a brake roller freewheel (4) with the transmission input shaft (5) thereby forwarding the engine torque to the transmission.
In retarder mode, the turbine wheel (2) is blocked by the turbine wheel brake (3) actuated up against the turbo clutch housing. The rotating impeller (1) deflects the oil flow onto the blades of the fixed turbine wheel (2), which now acts as a stator, and which then brakes the oil flow and therefore the impeller (1).
