B From radiator

C From crankcase

D To crankcase

At coolant temperatures of more than approx. 100 °C the main valve is fully opened.

The bypass gallery (C) is shut off by the bypass plate. The entire quantity of coolant must then flow through the radiator.

The cooling system is automatically bled through the ball valve in the coolant thermostat when it is filled during operation of the engine.
