The oil pressure switch (B604) is screwed on under the oil filter in the oil/coolant module.
Task
The engine management (MCM) control unit (A4) recognizes over the oil pressure switch (B604) whether there is sufficient engine oil pressure present. The oil checking lamp is actuated in the IC for an engine oil pressure of less than 0.5 bar.
Function
At an engine oil pressure of <0.5 bar the oil pressure switch (B604) changes its internal resistance from about 2 kΩ to about 1.3 kΩ. The change in resistance causes a change in voltage at the control unit inlet of the engine management (MCM) control unit (A4) on the basis of which the engine management (MCM) control unit (A4) recognizes whether there s sufficient engine oil pressure present.
