B2/5 Hot film mass air flow sensor

B2/5b1 Intake air temperature sensor

B28/5 Pressure sensor downstream of air filter

Location

The hot film MAF sensor is located at the front right on the air filter housing.

Task

The CDI control unit (N3/9) detects the air mass drawn in via the hot film MAF sensor .

Function

The electronics in the hot film MAF sensors regulate the constant specified temperature of the heating resistor via a variable voltage.

The temperature of the heating resistor is detected via a sensor resistor. If a temperature change occurs as a result of increased or reduced air flow, the integrated electronics corrects the voltage t at the heating resistor until the specified temperature is achieved again.

This regulating current is evaluated by the hot film MAF sensor and converted into a sensor voltage. The sensor voltage is used by the CDI control unit as a measure of the intake air mass.
