Detach front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module and place to one side



Remove radiator grille



Remove Mercedes star from radiator grille

 Mercedes star is no longer required.

Move drivers seat toward rear

Disconnect battery ground line



Detach edge guard in area of door sill and A-pillar panel

Remove A-pillar panel on left side at bottom

Remove cover below left of instrument panel

Remove accelerator pedal



Remove left floor covering on front footwell

Install

Install wiring harness and illuminated Mercedes star control unit (1)

Install illuminated Mercedes star (1) and connect

Install remaining parts

Document retrofitted equipment via vehicle documentation (VeDoc)

 Attach note "Illuminated Mercedes star retrofitted according to AZ88.40-P-0010EC" field organization texts for design group 88.

Check illuminated Mercedes star (1) for proper function

 The illuminated Mercedes star (1) is switched on by opening a door as well as by activating the ambient illumination. The illuminated star (1) switches off automatically approx. 5 minutes after a door is opened or after the ambient illumination is switched off automatically.
