4 | Remove screws (2) from catch hook reinforcement (3) | | |
5 | Open tie straps (4) at catch hook reinforcement (3) | Installation: Replace tie straps (4). | |
6.1 | Disconnect electrical connector from DTR radar sensor and expose the electrical wiring harness running to the DTR radar sensor | On vehicles with code (219) Distronic (DTR) | |
7 | Disconnect electrical connector from right fanfare horn (H2/1) | ||
8 | Detach rubber seal (5) in the area near center reinforcement (6) | ||
9 | Unclip expanding clips (7) | Installation: Replace damaged expanding clips (7). | |
10 | Remove screws (8) and hidden screws (arrows) from center reinforcement (6) | | |
11 | Remove left and right retaining clips (9) of radiator (10) | ||
12 | Lift up center reinforcement (6) along with catch hook reinforcement (3) and then unclip the engine hood cable (11) | Installation: Be sure that the engine hood cable (11) is correctly routed between center reinforcement (6) and the upper air ducting (13). | |
13 | Remove center reinforcement (6) along with catch hook reinforcement (3) | ||
14 | Unclip wiring harness for right fanfare horn (H2/1) from upper air ducting (13) | ||
15 | Unclip expansion clips (12) and remove upper air ducting (13) | Installation: Observe the installation position of the upper air ducting (13). | |
17 | Remove bottom engine compartment paneling at front | ||
18 | Unclip expansion clips (14) and pull lower air ducting (15) from left and right mounting points at radiator (10) | Installation: Observe installation position of lower air ducting (15) in left and right mounting points at the radiator (10). | |
19 | Remove nut (16) and then remove refrigerant lines (17) | | |
20 | Seal open refrigerant lines (17) with suitable stop plugs and seal openings at condenser (1) with suitable stop plugs | The openings of the refrigerant lines (17) and condenser (1) must be sealed; otherwise, any dirt and moisture entering them will damage components connected to the refrigerant circuit. | |
Installation: Renew sealing rings of refrigerant lines (17) and wet with compressor oil. | |||

22 | Release left and right brackets of power steering oil cooler (18) at radiator (10), take power steering oil cooler out and place down | ||
23 | Release condenser (1) from radiator (10), tilt it forward, guide it out of the lower mounting points at radiator (10) and place down | ||
24 | Install protective plate at radiator (10) | Make sure that the stud for fastening the refrigerant lines (17) to condenser (1) does not damage the cooling fins on radiator (10). | |
