Remove/install

Switch off ignition

Remove center curtain rail (6)

Remove retaining clips below center curtain rail (6) from center headliner (3)

Remove grab handle (2) above passenger door

 Bolt, grab handle to cab

Open roof hatch and remove edge protection strip (5)

Vehicles with code D8A (Roof hatch)

Remove paneling from pop-up roof or sliding roof

Vehicles with code D8M (Sliding roof) or code D8N (Electric pop-up roof)

Detach left front curtain rail (4) and right front curtain rail (1) in rear area of center headliner (3)

 Remove rear-most retaining clip on right and left.
It is not necessary to remove further retaining clips on the front curtain rails, because the recesses present make it easy to pull the center portion of the headliner (3) inward slightly.

Disconnect electrical connectors from left interior lamp (E31) and right interior lamp (E32)

Disconnect electrical connector from left roof speaker (B85) and right roof speaker (B86)

Only on vehicles with code J2J (Sound system)

Remove center headliner (3)

Install in the reverse order
