Move selector lever to position "D"

Remove front seats

 Only remove one front seat. As required, only driver's seat or front passenger seat.

Remove center air vent

Remove cover at selector lever

Remove bolt s (4)

Swivel center console (5) at rear upwards and pull towards rear until electrical connectors for COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) and AAC [KLA] control and operating unit (N22) can be accessed

 Use aid of second technician.

 Installation: First position center console (5) at top on instrument panel and then lower towards rear.

Disconnect electrical connectors at COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3)

 Installation: Ensure electrical wiring harness is routed correctly.

Disconnect fiber-optic cable at COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3)

 Installation: Ensure fiber-optic cable is routed correctly.

Cover fiber optic cable

Disconnect electrical connectors at AAC [KLA] control and operating unit (N22)

 Installation: Ensure electrical wiring harness is routed correctly.

Lift center console (5) over selector lever and turn to driver's side until electrical connectors (6, 7) can be accessed


Carefully turn center console (5),
center console (5) can otherwise be damaged.

Disconnect electrical connectors (6) at FCP control unit (N72)

 Installation: Ensure electrical wiring harness is routed correctly.

 Number of electrical connectors (6) differs depending on vehicle equipment.

Disconnect electrical connectors (7) for lighting of cup holder cover (8) and ashtray cover (9)

 Installation: Ensure electrical wiring harnesses are routed correctly.

Remove center console (5) from vehicle


Carefully remove center console (5) from vehicle,
parts in vehicle interior or center console (5) can otherwise be damaged.

Install in the reverse order
