 Caution

Risk of injury from pinching or crushing hands and feet when working on windows.

Secure the windshields and windows against falling down; use only specified lifting tools; wear safety shoes.

Remove rear-end door lining

Remove rear wiper arm

Remove rear wiper motor (M6/1)

 To do so, disconnect connector (M6/1x1), remove screws (1), and remove rear wiper motor.

Remove connectors (X19) of heated rear window (R1)

Remove window frame (2)

 Window frame is bonded.
Use a sharp knife to cut through adhesive and remove window frame.

Attach cup suction tool to rear window (R1)

Remove rubber window seal (3) from inside of rear-end door with assembly wedge and press rear window (R1) toward outside

Remove rear window (R1)

 Check rear window (R1) for damage and replace if necessary.



Install

Remove new rear window from packaging and remove protective foil from outer side

Insert assembly cord in retaining groove on rubber seal (3)

 Check rubber window seal (3) for damage and replace if necessary.
Insert rubber window seal such that the joint of the rubber window seal points downward.

Apply lubricant to rubber window seal (3)

Position rear window (R1) from outside

 The test symbol of the rear window must point downward.

Press on rear window (R1) and pull assembly cord out toward rear window, starting at bottom

 Ensure that rubber window seal (3) of rear window is in correct position above body flange.

Remove residual adhesive from window frame and door frame

Coat bonding surfaces on window frame and door frame with primer

 Primer must be dry before adhesive can be applied.

Apply adhesive to window frame

Window adhesive, art. no. 34805

Install window frame (2)

 Fix window frame in place with four screws.
The curing time for the adhesive is six hours.
After this time has passed, unscrew the four screws again.

Install connectors (X19) of heated rear window (R1)

Install rear wiper motor (M6/1)

Install rear wiper arm

Install rear door paneling
