Remove outer door handle from liftgate (1).

Remove both license plate lamps.

Remove license plate number from liftgate (1).

Remove license plate bracket from liftgate (1).

Remove model badge from liftgate (1) with a suitable tool.

If installed.

 Installation: Attach new model badges.

Remove Mercedes star from liftgate (1) with a suitable tool.

If installed.

 Installation: Attach new Mercedes star.

Remove center trim piece from liftgate (1).

Remove bottom trim piece from liftgate (1).

Remove outer trim of the liftgate (1).

If pop-out window is not removed.

Remove pop-out window of the liftgate (1).

With corresponding damage profile.

Remove sealing frame for the pop-out window of the liftgate (1).

When removing pop-out window in case of corresponding damage severity.

Remove end stops (10) on both sides.

When removing pop-out window.

Remove pneumatic springs (12) on both sides from the ball pins (11).

When removing pop-out window.


Do not remove retainers of pneumatic springs (12).
Pretension of retainers will otherwise be lost.

 Installation: Clip pneumatic springs (12) with installed retainers into ball pins (11).

Install in the reverse order.
