Risk of explosion caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel as well as risk of injury to eyes and skin caused by contact with fuel.

No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking.
Pour fuels only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

Switch off ignition and remove the transmitter key from the EIS [EZS] control unit

 On vehicles with Keyless Go, code 889: Press Keyless Go start/stop button repeatedly until the ignition is switched off.

Remove the transmitter key from the vehicle and store it in a location beyond its transmission range (min. 2 m).

Open fuel filler flap and filler cap

 The fuel filler flap and tank cap are left open until the repair is completed, to ensure that pressure is not built up in the fuel tank.

Danger!

Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Take off right rear wheel



Remove/install wheels, rotate if necessary

Remove wheelhousing liner in right rear fender

Detach electrical connector (1) from activated charcoal filter shutoff valve (Y58/4)

Turn activated charcoal filter shutoff valve (Y58/4) in counterclockwise direction (arrow A) and pull out of the activated charcoal canister (arrow B)

 Installation: Make sure that the seal rings (3) are not damaged by the activated charcoal filter shutoff valve (Y58/4).

Install in the reverse order
