Risk of explosion caused by ignition of flammable products, risk of poisoning caused by inhaling fuel vapors or swallowing fuel as well as risk of injury to skin and eyes exposed to fuel.

No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking.
Only pour fuels into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

Empty/fill fuel tank

Remove trim panel of fuel tank as well as left and right side trim panel of trunk

Detach fuel hose on the suction side (53), fuel return hose (74) and vent line (76/1)

 Collect remaining fuel, seal connections



Remove/install expansion reservoir

Only for vehicles with code (282) Ski bag (through-loading feature)

Remove bearing bracket (78) of ski bag mount

Only for vehicles with code (282) Ski bag (through-loading feature)

Take out fuel tank (75)

For SA "Sound system Bose": 

Remove/install amplifier unit. See repair instructions for electrical system II model 140 step No.

Check sound insulation strip (75/5)

Replace if necessary. Stick on sound insulation strip (self-adhesive).

Remove fuel strainer (26)

 Clean and inspect whether part can be re-used

 The splash bowl in the fuel tank is secured against turning with 2 pins. It is attached together with the fuel strainer (26)



Replace O-ring (26/1)

Oil to facilitate installation

Install in the reverse order

Dispose of fuel tank
