Observe accident prevention regulations!

Drain fuel tank (75)

Carefully pump out fuel, ensuring that no residues remain in fuel tank

Note quantity in tank.

Remove trim panel of fuel tank as well as left and right side trim panel of trunk

Detach fuel hose on the suction side (53), fuel return hose (74) and vent line (76/1)

 Collect remaining fuel, seal connections



Remove/install fuel level sensor

Remove partition

Push back cover (71)

To do this, loosen clamp.

Remove control unit for infrared remote control (N54)

Remove vent valve (76) and fuel return hose (74)

For this purpose unhook exhaust system from rubber rings.

Remove left drive shaft from inner connecting flange

Take out fuel tank (75)

 If necessary pry out of opening with plastic wedge (arrow) or similar. Pull fuel tank all the way back in the vehicle and remove filter fitting

Check sound insulation strip (75/5)

Replace if necessary. Stick on sound insulation strip (self-adhesive).

Remove fuel strainer (26)

 Clean and inspect whether part can be re-used

 The splash bowl in the fuel tank is secured against turning with 2 pins. It is attached together with the fuel strainer (26). If space is too narrow install fuel strainer from below after positioning tank



Replace O-ring (26/1)

Oil to facilitate installation
