| Remove/install | ||
1 | Park the vehicle on a flat road, apply the parking brake and shim the wheels | ||
2 | Clean the fuel tank externally (1) | ||
3 | Open the filler neck cap (3) and close again | This will relieve the internal residual pressure in the fuel tank (1). | |
4 | Drain the fuel tank (1) | | |
Collect the fuel in an appropriate recipient. | |||
5 | Remove the electric connector (5) from fuel level sensor (B39) | ||
6 | Remove the fuel pipings (2) in the fuel level sensor (B39) | Mark the position of each fuel line (2) to facilitate installation. | |
7 | Remove the fuel line below the fuel tank (1) | Installation: Replace sealing rings. | |
8 | Remove the nuts in the fastening strap (4) | Clamping band in the support | |
9 | Lift the fastening strap (4) and remove the fuel tank (1) | Use a proper lifting gear to lift the fuel tank (1). | |
In case of disposal of the fuel tank (1). | |||

Internal cleaning and disposal must be carried out in accordance with current legislation. | |||
10 | Remove the fuel level sensor (B39) from the fuel tank (1) | Turn the fuel level sensor (B39) counterclockwise. Be careful not to damage it. | |
Installation: Replace the sealing ring. | |||
11 | Install in reverse order | ||

12 | Check if there are fuel leakages after installation and during vehicle operation |
