Remove/install

Danger!

Risk of injury caused by performing testing or repair work on airbag or emergency tensioning retractor units.

Store airbag unit with deployment face up, do not subject to temperatures above
100 °C. When working on these units, disconnect the power supply.

Disconnect ground cable from battery

Remove airbag unit from steering wheel

Turn steering wheel (1) into middle position and lock steering wheel lock

Wheels must be in straight-ahead position.

Unscrew screw (2).

Installation: Use new bolt.

Pull steering wheel (1) off steering column

Install in the reverse order

Set time on instrument cluster

Except code J19/J05, tachograph.

Set time on timer for auxiliary heater

With code H12, Warm water auxiliary heater or H86, Timer for auxiliary heater.

Code radio

Perform road test to check the position of the steering wheel
