Remove propeller shaft

Mark flexible coupling (12) relative to flange on propeller shaft (arrows) and detach

 Check flexible coupling (12) for damage and replace if necessary.



Check propeller shaft flex disks for signs of damage and deformation

12 Loosen fitted sleeves on flexible couplings.

Separate rear and front halves of propeller shaft (1) on propeller shaft intermediate bearing

 Installation: Coat splined profile with MB-long-life grease.

 Installation: Assemble the driveshaft.

Checking

Check centering sleeves (10) in rear and front halves of propeller shaft (1).

 If the lip in the centering sleeve (10) is worn or damaged the centering sleeve (10) can be replaced individually:

Remove centering sleeve.

Pack cavities of both centering sleeves (10) with grease


