Remove grease cap (1) on front wheels

Attach measuring tips of the beam compass (012) at the wheel hub center points (centerings)

Read off measured value for wheelbase "a" between the front and rear axle on the left and right side of the vehicle

If the wheelbase ("a") is outside tolerance

Check and adjust installed position of axles (optically)

If the front axle has to be aligned, it is then absolutely essential to check the "driving straight-ahead" position and steering center position.
