Preparatory tasks

Remove wheel and tire assemblies.

Remove balance weights using assembly tool.

For jammed balance weights.

Clean

Clean wheel and tire assemblies.


Remove any soiling from the complete wheel before balancing.
Otherwise the measurement result will be falsified.

Balancing

Fasten wheel and tire assemblies to stationary balancing machine and balance them.



 Use self-adhesive balance weights on light-alloy wheels with cramped installation conditions.

Install wheel and tire assemblies.

Deactivate ESP®.

If dynamic balancing is required.

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Balance wheel and tire assemblies with dynamic balancing machine on vehicle.

If dynamic balancing is required.


Drive the complete wheels of the drive axle using the vehicle engine only.
Otherwise the differential may be damaged.

 Observe manufacturer's operating instructions.
Only wheel and tire assemblies may be dynamically balanced that have undergone stationary balancing beforehand.
The hood, vehicle doors, and the trunk lid or liftgate must be closed.

Activate ESP®.

If dynamic balancing takes place.

 The ESP® warning lamp must go out.
