Remove soft top mounting rail at right beltline

Remove rear wall paneling (A)

Disconnect additional brake lamp electrical connector (X20/1)

Installation: Perform function check on 3rd brake lamp.

Guide brake lamp cable (B) through rear panel

Remove spare tire mount (2) on rear wall

Remove inner screws (3).

Remove retainer on gas-operated strut (4)

Remove gas-operated strut (4)

When replacing the pneumatic spring (4), the old pneumatic spring (4) must be disposed of.

Remove rear bumper

Remove bolts (5).
