Remove

Disassemble drive head

Position the drive head (1) on the overhaul stand.

Remove pinion flange mounting nut (2) from pinion using special tool flange holder.

Remove the flange using special tool pinion flange puller (3).

Remove oil seal (4) from the pinion housing using special tool hub cap wrench (5).

Remove the pinion drive shaft head stand and fix the pinion with housing in the hydraulic pressing machine and remove the pinion shaft (6).

 Hold the pinion shaft carefully to avoid the damage.

Remove tail inner bearing (7) from the pinion housing by hand.

Remove pinion tail bearing outer race (8) from pinion cage.

 Use copper drift and hammer.

Remove pinion head bearing outer race (9) along with baffle plate from pinion cage.

 Use copper drift and hammer.



Install

Install pinion head bearing outer race (9) to pinion housing using special tool pinion head bearing outer race installer with hydraulic press.

Install pinion tail bearing outer race (8) to pinion cage using special tool pinion tail bearing outer race installer with hydraulic press.

Install pinion tail inner bearing (7) to the pinion shaft using suitable distance piece (10) to the hydraulic press.

 Before installing the pinion bearing, support the pinion bottom side using distance piece.

Install pinion housing to pinion shaft assembly using special tool drift pinion inner bearing installer with hydraulic press.

Install the pinion housing (12) to the over haul stand.

Fit new split pins (13) into the bearing caps/adjusting ring.

 Don't reuse the split pins to the bearing caps/adjusting ring.

Remove the old flange nut and flange from the pinion shaft.

Install new pinion oil seal to pinion housing using special tool pinion oil seal installer (14) with flange and tightened the new pinion nut.


Don't reuse the pinion flange nut and pinion seal, replace with new one.
This may cause damage.

 Hold the flange (15) using special tool flange holder.
