Remove/install

Remove propeller shaft on drive flange (1) of the rear axle and secure against falling using tensioning straps

Drain oil completely from rear axle



Remove bell hub with left and right rear axle shaft

Disconnect electrical connectors from pressure switches for interwheel and interaxle differential lock (2)

Disconnect compressed air lines from interwheel and interaxle differential lock (2)

Remove axle through-drive (3) from axle housing (5)


Before the last two bolts (4) are removed, the axle through-drive (3) must be securely lashed to the inspection pit lift.
The axle through-drive (3) can otherwise fall out of the axle housing (5) in an uncontrolled manner.

 Installation: Clean sealing surfaces on axle through-drive (3) and on axle housing (5) and coat with sealant.
