Remove

Remove crown wheel with differential

Remove pinion housing (1).

 If necessary, loosen pinion housing (1) after slackening bolts by tapping gently with a plastic mallet.

Remove shims (2)



Measure

Determine total thickness of all shims (2)

 Only required if a new gear pair is installed.

Determine required total thickness of shims (2)

 Only required if a new gear pair is installed.

Install

Clean sealing surfaces (3, 4)

Coat sealing surface (3) and sealing surface (4) with sealing compound

Permatex sealant

Place shims (2) on pinion housing (1)

 Make sure all shims (2) are positioned exactly above one another. The largest hole of each shim (2) must coincide.

Install pinion housing (1).

 Make sure the largest hole in all shims (2) matches the largest hole in the ring gear and pinion housing and in the pinion housing (1).


