1. Attach puller (17) to drive flange (9) with two hexagon bolts (18) so that the hexagon bolts exert a force of approx. 30 Nm on the ring nut (10) and the puller (17) abuts flat with the drive flange (9).
This tensions the tapered roller bearing outer races axially and the spacing washer halves cannot slip into the oil groove when pulling out the drive pinion.
