Determine the measure

Measure the dimension(A) of the bearing cap (2).

 Do not mount the transmission shaft (4) on the bridge holder (1).

Measure the dimension (B) on the bridge holder (1).

Determine the thickness of the lock ring (3).

 The thickness of the lock ring (3) is given by:
Thickness of lock ring (3) = Measure (B) - Measure (A)

 Preferably use a lock ring (2) of thickness equal to or closer to the calculated thickness.

Install the transmission shaft (4) on the bridge (1).

 On the transmission shaft (4) the tapered roller bearings and the bearing cap (2) must already be installed.

Install the lock ring (3) on the bridge channel (1).

 Utilize appropriate tool.

Check the axial play

Install the drive flange (5).

 To check the clearance, it is not necessary to install the sealing ring.

Install the collar nut (6).

 Tighten manually the collar nut (6).

Position the  dial indicator holder (8) at the bridge (1) and support the  dial indicator (7) on the top of the transmission shaft (4).

Move the transmission shaft (4) axially and check the end play. . 

If the value of the end play is not within the prescribed limits:



Remove the collar nut (6), the drive flange (5), increase the thickness of the lock ring (2) and proceed from Step 5.
