Measure the dimension (A).


Perform the measurement before installing the pinion or the race of the tapered roller bearing in the housing of the differential assembly.

Measure the dimension (C).

Install the race of the tapered roller bearing in the housing of the differential assembly.


Utilize appropriate tool.

Measure the dimension (B).

The thickness (D) of the pinion spacer washers is determined by:
Thickness (D) = Dimension (A) - Dimension (B) - Dimension (C)

Remove the race of the tapered roller bearing from the housing of the differential assembly.


Utilize appropriate tool.

Install the spacer washer with the determined thickness (D).


One or more washers can be installed, since they do not exceed the determined thickness (D).
