 Caution

Risk of injury caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts

Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

Remove the securing screws (6) of the adjustment threaded rings (5, 8)

Loosen the bolts of the housing cap (3) and remove the bearing cap (4)

If necessary:



Detach the bearing cap (4) by applying light blows with a rubber hammer.

Remove the adjustment threaded ring (5) and the bearing race (7) from this same side of the assembly

 For this, lift a little the ring gear with the differential (2).

Remove the ring gear with the differential (2) from the differential carrier housing (1)


To prevent damages on the tapered roller bearings (7):
The rollers cage must not rest on the differential carrier housing (1).

Remove the adjustment threaded ring (8) and the tapered roller bearing race (7)

Check

Check the ring gear with the differential case (2) and the pinion for wear

If there is signs of wear:



Replace the complete set.

Examine tapered roller bearings (7) for wear

If there is signs of wear:



Replace the complete set.



Install

Install the tapered roller bearing race (7) and the adjustment threaded ring (8) on the bearing housing

 Apply a single continuous bead of glue to the bearing housing holes in the differential housing and in the bearing cap.
Apply glue only around the holes, on the level machined surfaces.
On the bearing housing, apply glue around the threaded hole.
Do not apply glue on threaded area.

Install the ring gear with the differential (2) in the differential carrier housing (1)


To prevent damages on the tapered roller bearings (7):
The rollers cage must not rest on the differential carrier housing (1).

Install the tapered roller bearing races (7) and the adjustment threaded ring (5)

Install the bearing caps (4)

Install the bolts (3) of the bearing caps (4)

13

Adjust the preload of tapered roller bearings (7)
