Remove the bell hub with rear left and right side half-shafts

Unscrew the bolt (9) of the differential lock control cylinder (7)

 Only on differential lock and 233 mm Ø bevel gear.

Remove the differential lock control cylinder (7)

 Only on differential lock and 233 mm Ø bevel gear.

Remove the temperature sensor connector (1)

 Only for maintenance system (WS).

Remove transmission shaft

 Detach the transmission shaft only at the differential assembly and support the transmission shaft.

Install the removal and installation device on the differential assembly (2) and position on the housing of the pit jack

 The removal and installation device must to be utilized.Otherwise, the differential assembly (2) will fall off the axle bridge.

Remove the rest of the bolts (3) and lift off the differential assembly (2)



Installing

Install the differential lock control cylinder (7)

 Only on differential lock and 233 mm Ø bevel gear.

Do not install the compressed air piping and the pressure switch.

Tighten the bolt (9) on the differential lock control cylinder (7)

 Only on differential lock and 233 mm Ø bevel gear.

Through this, the differential lock remains locked mechanically.

Install the removal and installation device on the differential assembly (2) and position on the housing of the pit jack

 The removal and installation device must to be utilized.Otherwise, the differential assembly (2) cannot be installed in a controlled way.

Clean the sealing surfaces on the axle bridge and on the differential assembly and apply sealing compound

Position the differential assembly (2) in the axle bridge and tighten with 4 opposite bolts

 Through this, the differential assembly (2) is ensured against fall.

Remove the removal and installation device and tighten the remaining bolts (3)

 In the differential lock and 233 mm Ø bevel gear the two remaining bolts in the differential lock area are installed after the work step 17.



Remove again the differential lock control cylinder (7)

 Only on differential lock and 233 mm Ø bevel gear.

Tighten two bolts of the differential assembly (2) in the area of the differential lock control cylinder (7)

 Only on differential lock and 233 mm Ø bevel gear.



Completely install the differential lock control cylinder (7)
