1 Select two complete shims (1) of equal thickness and push between the two outer races (2 and 3).
2 It must be possible to push the shims (1) firmly between the two outer races (2 and 3) but without too high a pressure.
Shims are available in various thicknesses with a graduation of 0.02 mm.

3 Break one of the two selected shims at the parting lines provided (arrows) and deburr the fracture points cleanly.

4 Oil both tapered roller bearings with transmission oil
5 Insert the divided shim (1) between the two outer races (2, 3).
6 Check whether the tapered roller bearings can still be spun by hand.
Should the largest shim not be adequate, disassemble the drive pinion and install the next smaller shim.
