2	Remove brake pads		AR42.10-D-1700B

4	Remove rear axle shaft (1)
5	Using a suitable tool completely release the caulked slotted nut (2)
6	Unscrew slotted nut (2) and extract shim (3)	 The slotted nut (2) on vehicles as of vehicle identification number 113 372 up to vehicle identification number 113 786 can only be loosened clockwise on the left side (left-hand thread).

7.1	Screw assembly sleeve onto the axle tube	 On vehicles as of vehicle identification number 113 372 up to vehicle identification number 113 786 do not use on the left side.

7.2	Screw assembly device onto the rear wheel hub (4)	 On vehicles as of vehicle identification number 113 372 up to vehicle identification number 113 786 use on the left side.

8	Pull off rear wheel hub (4)	 Secure rear wheel hub using suitable lifting equipment.
9	Remove O-ring (9) from axle tube.
	Install
10	Grease O-ring (9) and slide onto the axle tube until it abuts	 Always install a new O-ring (9) even if the rear wheel hub without O-ring (9) was installed.	*BR00.45-Z-1009-06A
11	Coat contact surface of rear wheel hub (4) on axle tube with mounting paste.		*BR00.45-Z-1009-06A
12	Push rear wheel hub (4) over assembly sleeve onto axle tube.
13.1	Unscrew assembly sleeve from axle tube	 On vehicles as of vehicle identification number 113 372 up to vehicle identification number 113 786 not on the left side.

13.2	Unscrew assembly device on the rear wheel hub (4)	 On vehicles as of vehicle identification number 113 372 up to vehicle identification number 113 786 on the left side.

14	Slide shim (3) onto the axle tube
15	Tighten slotted nut (2)	 Tighten new slotted nut (2) to the specified tightening torque and do not loosen any more. Secure slotted nut (2) by pounding the collar in the groove (arrow). On vehicles as of vehicle identification number 113 372 up to vehicle identification number 113 786 use the slotted nut (2) A 970 990 00 55 on the left side.

16	Clean sealing surfaces on the rear wheel hub (4) and rear axle shaft (1) and coat with sealant		*BR00.45-Z-1012-01A
17	Install rear axle shaft (1).	 Use new bolts.

18	Continue pressing rear axle rpm sensor	 The rear axle rpm sensor must not rub against the ABS measuring ring.
