| Remove/install | ||
1 | Loosen wheel nuts (1) left hand side and right hand side by 3 to 4 turns. | Installation: Ensure that the nuts must be tightened in a diagonally face opposite pattern and an equal manner.
Tightening the wheel nut
2 | Place jack (2) under the rear axle.
3 | Place the tripod stand (3) and support axle housing.
4 | Completely loosen the nuts (1) and remove the inner and outer tyre from the rear axle.
5 | Support the chassis on tripod stand (4) both left hand side and right hand side.
6 | Drain the differential oil from the axle housing by removing the drain plug (5). | Installation: Remove the filler plug (16) from the housing cover and fill the axle with the approved lubricant until level with the bottom of the hole.
Installation: Always use the filler hole as the final reference. If lube is level with the bottom of the hole, the axle is properly filled.
Installation: Use recommended lubricant Loctite 516/Teflon on filler plug and drain plug.
Collect the oil in a suitable cleaned container.
Tighten filler plug | |||
Tighten drain plug (axle housing)
7 | Place a container under the drive axle shaft both drive hub, to receive the draining oil by using 1/4 half inch ratchet and extension rod (6). | Installation: Lube fill capacities are basic guidelines and varied based on the angle the axle is installed in a particular chassis.
Installation: Use recommended lubricant Loctite 516/Teflon on filler plug, drive axle shaft.
Drive axle shaft drive hub drain plug tighten
8 | Remove axle shaft (7) from the hub assembly. | Installation:
Installation: Apply recommended sealant on the installation face between drive head and axle housing.
Do not reuse the drained oil.
Loctite 5900 | |||
Axle shaft to wheel hub assembly
9 | Fit the wheel nut on left hand side and right hand side wheel stud (8).
10 | Remove the propeller shaft (9) from drive head and center bearing. | Propeller shaft to flange assembly
11 | Remove the cable tie (11) from brake hose.
12 | Disconnect the left hand side B32.1 and right hand side B33.1 speed sensor (10).
13 | Remove left hand side and right hand side pneumatic hoses (12) of the parking brake and service brake from spring brake actuator.
14 | Lift the axle housing to relieve load from leaf spring assemblies and remove the tripod stand.
15 | Remove spring U-bolt mounting nuts (13) from leaf spring eft hand side and right hand side. | Spring U-bolt mounting nuts
16 | Carefully lower the rear axle (14), support the axle housing on pallet trolley (15) both sides and withdraw the rear axle housing from the vehicle.
17 | Place the rear axle properly on the axle work stand.
18 | If required, remove the spring seat and spring U-bolt from the leaf spring.
19 | Install in the reverse order. |
