1 | Drain oil from rear axle. | ||

2 | Remove wheels from the rear axle. | ||
After jacking up, leave the lifting device positioned at the rear axle. | |||
3 | Empty compressed-air system completely. | ||
4 | Remove left and right anti-lock braking system (ABS) rpm sensors from rear axle. | ||
Do not disconnect electrical connector. | |||
5 | Disconnect electrical connector for brakepad wear sensor at left and right brake caliper (17). | ||
6 | Detach plug from interwheel differential lock indicator switch (19). | ||
7 | Detach each of the two compressed-air lines from the left and right combination brake cylinders (18). | ||
8 | Detach compressed-air line for interwheel differential lock from connection (22). | ||

9.2 | Detach bleed line for rear axle from axle housing (2). | Rear axle 771.003 | |
10 | Detach propeller shaft from drive flange (1) of rear axle and secure with a tensioning strap to prevent it from falling. | ||
11 | Detach shock absorber (10) and air suspension linkage bracket from left and right air suspension supports (16). | Nut, bracket for air suspension linkage and shock absorber to bearing bracket | |
12 | Detach air suspension bellows (11) from left and right air suspension supports (16). | Bolt, air suspension bellows to rear axle air suspension support | |
13 | Detach left and right air suspension supports (16) from rear axle. | Installation: Position air suspension support (16) over spring U-bolts (9) so that the pilot bushings on the air suspension support (16) engage in the bores of the axle housing (2). | |

14 | Detach transverse control arm bearing bracket (3) from axle housing (2). | If necessary, lower the rear axle slightly. | |

15 | Lower rear axle and pull out from under the vehicle. | Two spring U-bolts (9), the spring support (8), the parabolic control arm (7) and the bearing bracket (6) with stabilizer (5) remain on each side of the vehicle. | |
Installation: The pilot bushings in the bearing bracket (6) must engage at the bottom in the mounting holes of the axle housing (2) and at the top in the mounting holes of the parabolic control arm (7). | |||
