Remove rear wheels

Unplug cable of brake pad wear indicator (13)

Detach connection cable for brake pad wear indicator (14)

 Installation:Replace bolt (15).



Pull ABS sensor (7) with plug bushing of ABS sensor (8) out of the mounting hole

 To prevent confusion, label ABS sensors before disconnecting.

 The cable of the ABS sensor on the right-hand side is labeled at the factory with a white tag.

 Installation: Install ABS sensor.

Remove cable tie (arrows) on hand brake cable (3) and expose connecting cable for brake pad wear indicator (14) and ABS sensor cable up to the parking brake relay unit



Detach brake cables (3).

 Installation: Adjust parking brake.

Remove hand brake cable (3) at the relay unit

 Compress circlip on the transfer unit.



Detach bracket for brake cables at rear axle tube (31).

 Transfer the brackets (31, 33) when installing new axle.

Detach stabilizer bar (32) at rear axle

 Installation: Install new nut (30).

Unscrew both shock absorbers (4) at rear axle

 Installation: Replace nut (12).



Detach ALB lever (5) from rear axle bracket

 Installation: Replace the nut (6).



Pull vent line (18) out of frame

 Transfer vent line (18) when installing new axle.

Unscrew propeller shaft (16) at rear axle flange and tie to the side.

 Do not allow propeller shaft to dangle down otherwise the needle roller bearings in the universal joint could be damaged.



Unscrew both brake calipers (9) and tie to the vehicle with wire.

 Do not twist, kink or pull brake hoses.

 Installation: Replace bolts (10).



Move telescopic jack under axle, support axle and secure axle against falling down using tensioning strap on jack

Unscrew nuts (19) on spring brackets (1), remove spring brackets (1) and spring plates (2)

 Installation: Replace nut (19).



Remove rear axle.

Install in the reverse order

Inspect oil level at rear axle without changing oil, adjust to correct level if necessary


