Remove/install

Remove the rear wheels

Drain the oil from the rear axle housing



Slacken the clamp and remove the vent hose

Detach the propeller shaft (1) from the pinion coupling yoke and tie it firmly to the chassis

Remove the articulation guide-pins (5) from the combined cylinder rods (3) and move the rods aside

 Keep the pneumatic system charged and the parking brake released.

 Installation: Install new cotters.

Depressurize the pneumatic system at the tanks

Loosen the flexible pipe connections (2) of the combined cylinders (3)

 Installation: Install new seal washers.

Release the combined cylinder nuts (6) and remove the combined cylinder (3)

 Fastening nut of the diaphragm cylinder to the bracket

Remove the brake pipe clamps (4) and move the pipes away from the axle

Remove the shock absorber nuts (7) and detach the shock absorbers lower eyes

 Installation: Check the shock absorbers rubber bushings for condition.
Install new nuts.

Remove the torsion bar bearings (8) from the bracket torsion bar

 Installation: Check the bar rubber bushings for condition.

Insert an appropriate lifting device under the rear axle and lift it slightly

 Do not lift the vehicle from the differential housing.

Remove the spring U-screw nuts (9) from the spring clips (10)

 Installation: Clean the "U" screw threads and lubricate.

Remove the spring clips (10) from the rear leaf springs (11), the bottom and upper guide supports of the spring clips

Lower the axle and remove the spring support blocks and guides of the axle

Remove the rear axle

17

Install in reverse order
