Remove/install front axle gear rubber mounts

Removing

Danger!

Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.

Remove front axle gear (1).

Press rubber mount (2, 3) out of front axle gear (1)

 Attach hollow cylinder (5) to rubber mount (2, 3) as shown in the illustration.

 Press out rubber mount (2, 3) using separate parts marked with A and C and also spindle of extraction/insertion tool.

Press rubber mount (4) out of removed front axle gear (1)

 Attach hollow cylinder (5) to rubber mount (4) as shown in the illustration.

 Press out rubber mount (4) using separate parts marked with H and K and also spindle of extraction/insertion tool.



Install

Press rubber mount (2, 3) into removed front axle gear (1)

 Press in rubber mount (2) using separate parts marked with B and D and also spindle of extraction/insertion tool.

 Press in rubber mount (3) using separate parts marked with B and F and also spindle of extraction/insertion tool.

 Attach the hollow cylinder (5) as shown in the illustration and press in the rubber mount (2, 3) as far as the stop.

 During installation the compression on the hand pump must not exceed 140 bar as otherwise the bearing may be damaged.

Press rubber mount (4) into removed front axle gear (1)

 Press in rubber mount (4) using separate parts marked with H and M and also spindle of extraction/insertion tool.

 Attach the hollow cylinder (5) as shown in the illustration and press in the rubber mount (4) as far as the stop.

 During installation the compression on the hand pump must not exceed 140 bar as otherwise the bearing may be damaged.
