When working on the front-end assembly, be careful not to scratch, mark or notch the surfaces of aluminum parts. Otherwise the service life of the parts will be affected

Detach left front wheel and tire assembly



Remove brake hose from brake hose bracket (1)

 Do not damage brake hose.

Remove cable tie (2) from steering knuckle holder

 Installation: Replace cable tie (2).

Unscrew nut (4) and detach left tie rod from steering knuckle (5)

 Self-locking nut, tie rod to steering knuckle

Unscrew nut (3) and detach steering knuckle (5) from left upper transverse control arm

 Self-locking nut, upper ball joint out of upper transverse control arm to steering knuckle

Remove front axle shaft (6) from front axle differential

 The front axle shaft (6) remains on the wheel hub.

 Collect any oil which runs out.

Pry out radial shaft sealing ring (7) from front axle differential with suitable tool



 Installation: Coat sealing lip of radial shaft sealing ring (7) with universal hypoid gear oil.

 Installation: Press radial shaft sealing ring (7) into the front axle differential with a drift (8).

Install in the reverse order



Check oil level in front axle differential; correct if necessary

 If a new front axle differential has been installed, after repairs for oil loss, or if oil escapes during removal.
