Remove

Disconnect front axle drive shafts from front axle gear at the flange

Remove front axle gear propeller shaft

Unscrew oil filler plug and oil drain plug, drain oil



Remove front axle gear

Remove right-hand front axle shaft flange (1)

 Drive out with plastic mallet or lever out with assembly tool.

Unscrew bolts (4) and remove with washers (5) and transmission bracket (6).



Unscrew bolts (7) and remove with washers (8).



Remove flanged pipe cover (9) with gasket (10).

Installation: Replace gasket (10).

Check needle roller bearing (3) and radial shaft sealing ring (2) for wear and damage and replace if necessary

 Installation: Before installation (2), coat new radial shaft sealing ring on the outer sealing surface with sealing compound.

Check tapered roller bearing (11) for wear and damage and replace if necessary

 When replacing one or both tapered roller bearings (the second taper roller bearing is located in the cover of the flanged pipe), the thickness of the shim in front of the second bearing in the flanged pipe cover must be re-determined otherwise the front axle gear may become damaged. See 
