Basic depth device

Each ring gear and pinion assembly has a dimensional allowance measurement to make sure the correct contact standard of the gear teeth.

Due to this manufacturing dimensional allowance, the assembling measurement, generally, can be different from the standard measurement. This difference is engraved in the ring gear oblique face and in the pinion head, and can be positive or negative in relation to the basic standard measurement.

We have:

G = Basic measurement

G1 = Negative measurement

G2 = Positive measurement

Check

1 Install the dial indicator (1) with the prolonger in the device (2) without attach it.

2 Attach in the adjustment device (3) the standard of 83.50 mm (4) and adjust the dial scale with a previous tension of 2 mm.

3 Install the adjustment device in the bearing bushings so that the centering edge is supported in the pinion enter hole and the filler edge of the dial indicator, in the highest point of the pinion face. Turn the device radially to one and other side until you find the point where the dial scale indicates the smaller point.

4 Check the basic measurement considering the difference indicated in the ring gear.

Example 1: Indication engraved in the ring gear and at the top of the pinion 533-0.20

In the example, the first group of numbers (533) represents the number of the ring gear and pinion and the second group (-0.20), the difference in relation to the standard basic measurement.

Negative dimensional allowance:

G1 (83.50 mm - 0.20 mm = 83.30 mm) where:

Standard basic measurement(G): 83.50 mm

Difference indicated in the ring gear: -0.20 mm

Basic measurement for the pinion adjustment (G1): 83.30 mm

Example 2: Indication engraved in the ring rear and at the top of the pinion 560+0.20

In the example, the first group of numbers (560) represents the number of the ring gear and pinion and the second group (+0.20), the difference in relation to the standard basic measurement.

Positive dimensional allowance:

G2 (83.50 mm + 0.20 = 83.70 mm) where:

Standard basic measurement(G): 83.50 mm

Difference indicated in the ring gear: +0.20 mm

Basic measurement for the pinion adjustment (G2): 83.70 mm

Adjust

5 Remove the pinion assembly from its housing, remove tor add compensation washers according to the measurement obtained in the checking and, then, install the pinion again.
