

When installing, cotter pins, self-locking bolts and nuts must be renewed and wear parts must be checked for reusability.

Place chocks in front of and behind the rear wheels

Raise vehicle at front axle

 Position stands under the trellis frame side member and lower vehicle onto stands.

Jack up vehicle at center axle

Only on model 671.312/ 322/ 327.

 If the front axle is raised more than 720 mm, the center axle must be raised as well.

Remove wheels

 Installation: Check wheel angle and adjust if necessary.

Mount fixture for supporting the front axle at the left and right wheel hub

 Position jack on both sides of the fixture and raise slightly.



Drain compressed air from compressed air system

6.1

Unhook linkage from level-control valve (1)

 Pull up lever on level-control valve and bleed air spring bellows.

Disconnect ABS cable from the front axle and the connections to the substructure

 Only with Code B02 (ABS).

6.3

Disconnect ABS cable from the front axle and the connections to the substructure

 Only with code A70 (ASR).

6.4

Loosen lines of the central lubrication (2) on the axle side from the chassis

 Only with code CZ3 (central lubrication).

Unscrew brake hoses (3) to the brake cylinders

 Seal brake connections with rubber caps.

Detach drag link (4) from pitman arm (5)

 Uncotter and unscrew castle nut, press ball joint off pitman arm.



Detach upper trailing arm (9)



Unscrew nuts of dampers and push up dampers (6)

 Remove nuts, cover plates and damper rubbers.

 Check damper rubbers for reusability, replace if necessary, replace nuts.



Unscrew bolts of trailing arm (7) on front axle carrier and unscrew bolts of transverse control arm (8) to front axle beam

 Installation:

Before installation, the rubber rings should be checked for reuse. Remove cover plates, divided rubber rings and trailing arms.



Unscrew bolts on the mount of the transverse control arm (8) on the substructure and remove transverse control arm



Lower front axle and remove bellows (10)

 Before installation, grease bellows lightly at the top and clean taper on substructure

Move front axle out to the side

Install in the reverse order
