Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.

Disconnect connector of front axle electrical distributor

Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury caused by brake fluid coming into contact with skin and eyes.

Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid.

Detach brake hose from brake line

Detach stabilizer bar link rod (78k) from stabilizer bar (78)

 Use Allen wrench to apply counterpressure to the ball joint as required.



Detach tie rod (10a) from steering knuckle

Detach torque strut (18) from front axle carrier (1)

 Do not twist bolt (18a). Counterhold bolt (18a) when slackening the nut. Otherwise the fixing lugs for the caster adjustment in the rubber mount will be sheared off when the repair kit is fitted.

Loosen and unhook oil cooler

Detach cross strut (17) from front axle carrier (1)

 The bolt (17a) must not be turned. Counterhold bolt (17a) when slackening the nut. When the repair kit is fitted, otherwise the fixing lugs for camber adjustment in the rubber mount will be sheared off.

Secure front-axle half to prevent it from falling down

Open engine hood

Unscrew nuts (11b) of suspension strut at suspension strut tower and lower the front-axle half



Checking

Check cross strut (17) and strut rod (18) for damage or deformation and replace if necessary

Check suspension strut for leaks and damage and replace if necessary

Check steering knuckle for damage or deformation and replace if necessary

Install in the reverse order

 Installation: Tighten nuts and bolts of chassis components only when vehicle is in the ready-to-drive condition.
