| Remove and install | ||
1 | Position the vehicle on a good place. Lock the rear wheels to avoid it accidentally moves | If the vehicle is loaded. Be careful when lifting something from it. | |
2 | Disconnect the battery negative terminal or turn main key off | Loose the screw of the negative cable of the frame rail, avoiding to loose the battery terminals as well. | |
Do not lift it taking the center of rear axle to avoid serious damages on axles. | |||
3 | Remove the self-locking nuts (9), fixation screws (5), metal washers separators (10) and shock absorber (1) | Install: Put new self-locking nuts and tighten them with an appropriated torque. | |

4 | Remove the mountings (7) from the shock absorbers eye bolts with bushes (8) | Install: If necessary, replace the mountings (7) with metal bushes (8). | |
Install: To assemble mountings (7) and bushes (8), apply a soft layer of vaseline on the surface and use a vise. | |||

5 | Check the shock absorbers condition | Replace the shock absorbers if they present: Evidence of leaks. Worn rods. Kneaded bodies. Loose or damaged eye bolts. | |
Damaged mountings. If it is necessary a test, the equipment recommends a replacement. | |||
6 | Install on the opposite direction | It is important to consider that the shock absorbers interfere on the directional behavior of vehicle, therefore, it is recommended that the replacement always occurs in pairs on the same axle. | |
7 | Perform a test drive | Check the vehicle behavior. |
